Project: The project seeks to expand on the Promotora and Community-Based Education (PACBE) model to address patient barriers and institutional needs for quality healthcare services. In Year 1, we will conduct focus groups with healthcare professionals, CHW/P’s, and community members to inform us of the barriers to trust between underserved communities and health providers. In Year 2 a survey will be developed that measures trust between underserved communities and health providers. The findings from this survey will help us inform sustainable approaches to community-partnered care delivery and support services related to healthcare access and delivery. Additionally, this study will evaluate cross-system collaboration efforts to engage in community-partnered care services and the effectiveness of CHWs/Ps' involvement in research initiatives. Our findings can inform researchers and policymakers on how to develop and implement policies that protect the well-being of immigrant populations in the region and inform training for healthcare providers to partner with CHW/Ps to deliver health education that is culturally and linguistically affirming for Latina/o/x rural population.
Funding Source: The project is made possible by funding from Genentech Corporate Giving Health Equity Innovation Fund.
